Pilot Watch Collection
Pilot: The 2016 Pilot’s Watch collection from Swiss luxury watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen offers a wide, balanced range of Pilot’s Watches stretching from the Big Pilot’s Heritage Watch to the stylish Mark XVIII and the elegant Pilot’s Watch Automatic 36. With the new Timezoner Chronograph, a simple twist is all it takes to change the timezone, making it the perfect world time watch for frequent travellers. The exclusive and emotional “Antoine de Saint Exupéry” and “Le Petit Prince” collections should also be a source of pleasure to many collectors this year.
1. Big Pilot (IW500912)
The largest IWC-manufactured calibre builds up the energy for over seven days’ power reserve in virtually no time. The movement stops after 168 hours, ensuring the same precision throughout the entire time it is actually running. The 46-millimetre stainless-steel case encloses a soft-iron cage that protects the movement against extreme magnetic fields.
2. Big Pilot Perpetual Calendar (W502902)
One of the most complex pilot’s watches ever built. The IWC-manufactured movement with its seven-day power reserve drives a whole range of watchmaking complications. These include a perpetual calendar with four-digit year display together with day, date and month displays as well as a moon phase indicator. All the displays are easily adjusted using the crown.
3. Pilot Chronograph Top Gun Miramar (IW389002)
The diameter of the ceramic case has been reduced to 44 millimetres, and IWC has fitted the model with a simple date display. The timepiece also has a combined hour and minute counter. Thanks to the integrated flyback function, pushing the reset button causes the running chronograph hand to revert to zero and immediately start recording another time.
Portugieser: In 2015, IWC Schaffhausen celebrated the 75th birthday of a watch family steeped in tradition: the Portugieser. In keeping with its jubilee, the new Portugieser collection comes with a host of technological and design modifications as well as new features.
4. Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph (IW390503)
Powered by the in-house 89361-calibre movement and water-resistant to 6 bar, the chronograph demonstrates its sporting qualities with a flyback function and an additional flange with quarter-second calibration for short stop times. Stop times longer than a minute are shown like the time of day on a separate analogue subdial. The case diameter has been reduced from 45.4 millimetres to 43.5 millimetres.
5. Portugieser Perpetual Calendar (IW503401)
Perpetual calendar with moon phase display, four-digit year display, 7-day automatic movement and power reserve display. Available for the first time with typical Portugieser railway-track-style chapter ring. The moon phase display is depicted as a star-studded night sky, with the moon and stars appearing to hover in infinite space.
